Claxton Engineering Services has successfully completed a project in the UK North Sea that involved working in water depths of around 90m. The company completed the project over the course of six months.

Claxton supplied a flanged high-pressure riser system package for the project, a floating production, storage and an offloading vessel, which was customised to meet the field’s requirements.

It also involved connecting a 12km gas export pipeline to the BP central area transmission system pipeline, to enable gas to be exported to the UK.

Claxton Risers product leader Darren Bowyer said that rig schedules can be fluid and many factors influence the management of drilling teams, therefore clients usually give short notice of their riser needs.

“The project took six months from start to finish and was on time and on budget.”

“For the North Sea project, we supplied a flanged high-pressure riser system package for the project, including interface connectors subsea and at surface. The project took six months from start to finish and was on time and on budget,” Bowyer said.

“The installation phase was completed smoothly, notwithstanding some early technical challenges interfacing the tension system, also supplied by Claxton, to the rig’s existing systems.”

“This enabled them to capture all the lessons learned from the project execution and feed them back to the team to promote continuous improvement,” Bowyer said.
