The deal follows a previous order for six E-One² models delivered to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Cang Cat Lai Terminal, which were operated by SNP. The company said that the E-One² RTG cranes featuring Zero Emission technology became the first Zero Emission RTGs in Asia when they were purchased last year.

Vietnam-based SNP handles 80% of the import and export volumes in the Ho Chi Minh City area and nearly 50% of cargo traffic nationwide. It has seen a rise in container traffic from 2Mteu in 2008 to 2.8Mteu in 2010 and it expects container traffic to rise further.

The 41t capacity cranes, which were bought along with an extensive stock of spare parts, have a lift height of 1-over-5 and a span of 6+1 for productivity.

SNP also operates ten Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors supplied in 2010, in addition to the existing six Kalmar RTG models.

Kalmar E-One² cranes will channel their main power through cable reela and regenerate energy when lowering loads, supplying the power back to network so that the customer only pays for the actual energy consumed. SNP has also opted to equip each machine with a diesel power unit to use when changing stacks or as a back-up power source.

Since 2007, the company has ordered 26 Kalmar all-electric E-One² RTGs for its Cat Lai and Cai Mep container terminals.

In May 2011, Cargotec won an order for 12 Kalmar E-One² RTG cranes from Santos Brasil, a South American container terminal operator, to be equipped in its Tecon Santos Terminal 4 expansion. Santos Brasil’s 16-wheel RTGs are 7+1 wide and 1-over-6 high and feature 55t capacity twin-lift Bromma spreaders with load-sensing capability via the twistlocks. They are equipped with Kalmar Smartrail, an autosteering and container position verification system.
