Singapore-based Keppel Singmarine has received two newbuild contracts worth S$47m (US$36.32m) in Indonesia, which comprise a coal transshipment barge for Indonesia’s Indo Straits and three tugs for an unnamed Indonesian shipping company.

The coal transshipment barge is designed by Keppel Singmarine’s design arm Marine Technology Development (MTD).

The vessel will be capable of loading 35,000t of coal a day and will operate in open sea and difficult transshipment conditions.

The barge is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Tug boat vessels include a pair of 45t bollard-pull tractor tugs with twin Voith Schneider Propulsion units and a 50t bollard pull Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tugboat, which are expected to be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of next year.

The company said that the ASD tugboat will also be built to MTD’s design.
