Hamworthy has received a contract to supply regasification technology for two newbuild floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).

The 170,000m3 storage capacity vessels, which are owned by Hoegh LNG, are being built at South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

As per the contract, Hamworthy will deliver one system to the South Korea-based shipyard in December 2012 and the second in February 2013.

The initial two FSRU vessels will feature a propane-seawater regasification system, which has been used on two Golar liquefied natural gas carriers in operation in Brazil and Dubai that have been converted into FSRUs.

The company said that the same system will also be delivered as part of two new projects under construction in Indonesia and Malaysia.
