The Indian Shipping Ministry is planning to upgrade infrastructure at Kadla port under a public private partnership (PPP) and expand its capacity to 100Mtpa within two years.

The project includes the construction of an additional three berths at an estimated cost of Rs5.44bn ($108.41m).

The project also involves upgrading the handling capacity of the IFFCO jetty at Kandla Port to 2Mt at an estimated cost of INR270m ($5.38m).

The port has installed Mobile Harbour cranes at a cost of Rs283.2m ($5.64m) and is currently installing a vessel traffic management system.

The upgrade of the port is expected to be completed in the next two years.
