Marlink has entered a definite agreement to purchase a majority stake in Spanish broadband connectivity provider OmniAccess for an undisclosed sum.

OmniAccess’ existing management team will remain intact and continue to hold significant shares in the company following the deal’s completion.

The combined entity is expected to offer maritime VSAT services worldwide, as well as plan to generate nearly $500m in revenues.

It will employ around 1,000 people and operate a global infrastructure, while supporting more than 4,000 vessels with VSAT connectivity.

The proposed deal is subject to customary regulatory approval and is scheduled to be closed by the first half of next year.

OmniAccess was initially established in 2002 with an aim to provide broadband connectivity services and solutions to the high-end superyacht and boutique cruise line customers.

The company currently provides a complete portfolio of IT and broadband connectivity services and solutions to more than 350 large superyachts, as well as ocean and river-cruise vessels worldwide.

Marlink Group also offers a portfolio of multi-band communication solutions covering Ku-, Ka-, C- and L-band services coupled with mobile and terrestrial links, as well as various digital solutions to serve maritime and enterprise companies globally.
