Keppel Offshore & Marine’s (Keppel O&M) wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Singmarine has delivered an ice-class vessel to New Orient Marine, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-based Maritime Construction Services.
The new multi-purpose vessel MPV Everest has been designed to be capable of operating in ambient temperatures as low as -30°C.

The vessel is equipped with an Ice Class Arc 5 notation and features various advanced capabilities such as Class 3 dynamic positioning.
It will be able to move through an ice layer of up to 1m thickness.

By GlobalDataMPV Everest is able to perform subsea repair and construction activities at water depths of 3,000m, as well as carry out well intervention and diving support services via an 18-men twin-bell system.
The vessel can also be deployed in firefighting and emergency rescue operations.
Maritime Construction Services director Knut Reinertz said: “The addition of this highly versatile, robust and high specification multi-purpose ice-class vessel to our fleet will enable us to provide a wide variety of value-added services to our customers.
“It is designed for efficient and high-performance operation, even in harsh Arctic and cold climate conditions.”
Prior to this vessel, Keppel O&M is noted to have completed ten ice-class specialised shipbuilding projects over the last decade.
