APM Terminals Moin in Costa Rica has received a set of ship-to-shore and electric rubber-tyre gantry cranes (ERTGs) to bring its total number of cranes to six and 23, respectively.
Commissioning of the cranes has been completed.

The 1.3 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), deep water container terminal, which will be situated on an island in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Moin, Costa Rica, is currently under construction by APM Terminals as part of a $1bn investment.
APM Terminals has also developed the island on which the greenfield facility will be situated.
The company has already completed the first of the three-phase project. The second and ongoing phase is expected to be completed by February.
When completed, APM Terminals will operate the facility in Moin as part of a 30-year concession agreement.

By GlobalDataAPM Terminals Moin managing director Kenneth Waugh said: “These cranes represent a significant improvement in the competitiveness of the nation.
“They will boost the economy, moving it from the 139th to the number one position in the region, according to the World Bank connectivity ranking.”
APM Terminals Moin has so far recruited more than 200 employees. The company is also carrying out recruitment drive and offering training to the local talent through different programmes.
APM Terminals Moin will also assign 60%-70% of its space to refrigerated storage capacity to accommodate the country’s growth in the sector.
In the next 15 years, reefer container shipments from Costa Rica are estimated to double from around 300,000 TEUs to 600,000 TEUs.
