Cruise Lines International Association, Europe (CLIA Europe) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MedCruise, the association of Mediterranean cruise ports, to jointly support the growth of the cruise shipping business.

The partnership will cover the cruise shipping business in the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Red Sea, Adriatic Sea, North Africa, and near the Atlantic.

The partnership will work together to present a unified position for the promotion of sustainable growth of the cruise shipping industry before the European Union (EU) organisations, national governments, local authorities and other stakeholders.

Both the parties will also share statistics, studies and reports of common interest on prevailing trends in the industry, shipbuilding and new technologies.

They will further collaborate in the field of professional development, as well as conduct new standalone studies associated with the cruise industry.

A joint committee comprising members of both the organisations will also be established.

MedCruise aims to promote the cruise industry in the Mediterranean and its neighbouring seas.

Comprising 72 members and 32 associate members, the organisation represents more than 100 ports around the Mediterranean region, including the Black Sea, the Red Sea, and the Near Atlantic.

CLIA Europe intends to promote the interests of cruise ship operators based in Europe.
