Fincantieri has secured a contract from TUI Cruises, a joint venture (JV) of TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises, for the construction of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered vessels.
To be built at the company’s facility in Monfalcone, Italy, the vessels will have a gross tonnage of 161,000t.

The first vessel is expected to be delivered in 2024, followed by the second in 2026.
US-based Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) has reached an agreement with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Company (HMD) for two 50,000dwt-class product chemical tankers.
The vessels will feature advanced exhaust gas cleaning systems and will comply with the MARPOL standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

By GlobalDataNorwegian Cruise Line has exercised the option for fifth and sixth Project Leonardo-class vessels with Fincantieri.
The 300m-long vessels are designed to accommodate 3,300 passengers and are expected to be delivered from 2026 to 2027.
The contract was originally signed in February last year and included an option to order two more vessels.
The first four vessels will be delivered between 2022 and 2025.
An unknown European container shipping company has awarded a €170m ($198m) contract to Wärtsilä for the supply of hybrid exhaust scrubber systems and retrofit services.
Wärtsilä will provide hybrid scrubber systems of 50MW, 60MW and 70MW, which will be customised to the container vessels.
Wärtsilä will also offer its engineering and site advisory services for the vessels, as part of the contract.
