Damen Shipyards Group has reached an agreement with Skoon Energy to facilitate the development of sustainable shipping solutions.

Skoon will leverage the expertise of Damen in handling major international shipbuilding projects to fully electrify the shipping industry.

Skoonboxes, the swappable battery packs developed by Skoon, will be tested on a diesel-electric inland vessel by the end of this year.

KVH Industries has been awarded a contract by Transpetro tankers, a Brazilian tanker operator, for the supply of its VSAT connectivity solutions to 45 vessels.

The five-year airtime contract will involve the deployment of KVH TracPhone V7-HTS satellite communications antenna system.

The TracPhone V7-HTS system is a 60cm Ku-band satellite communications antenna that offers services to the mini-VSAT Broadband network of the company.

Scorpio Tankers has awarded a contract to Ecochlor for the delivery of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) for 55 product carriers.

PSA Canada Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of PSA International, has agreed to purchase a 60% stake in Ashcroft Terminal (AT) in Canada.

Located 300km away from the Port of Vancouver (POV), the terminal occupies 320 acres of freehold industrial land.

PSA intends to bolster its intermodal and inland container depot (ICD) operational capabilities through the acquisition.

Royal Caribbean Cruises has successfully acquired 66.7% ownership in cruise ship company Silversea Cruises.

Approved by the regulatory authorities, the deal is based on the enterprise value of approximately $2bn.

The remaining 33.3% stake will be owned by Silversea executive chairman Lefebvre d’Ovidio, as per the terms of the agreement.

The acquisition brought the total number of ships owned by RCL to 59.
