Kalmar has agreed to provide three DCT-specific rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes to Deepwater Container Terminal (DCT) Gdansk.

The electrically powered cranes have an outreach of 32m and can lift a maximum weight of 41t each.

The delivery of the new RMGs is scheduled to start in the second half of next year.

The latest contract follows an earlier order for five rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTGs) awarded by DCT in the first quarter of this year.

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has opted for the cloud services of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

“Wilhelmsen will also receive funding from the Singaporean Government for the development of a shore-to-ship delivery project.”

AWS assists SHI in the development of advanced autonomous smart ship systems.

The cloud services provider will support SHI to innovate its autonomous shipping platform. The transformation works include self-piloting of large container ships, liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, and floating production systems.

SHI has already received the services of AWS such as machine learning, computers, storage, analytics, and virtual reality, under the agreement.

The Government of Singapore has selected Wilhelmsen Ships Service for the development of future next-generation unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) regulatory framework.

Wilhelmsen will also receive funding from the Singaporean Government for the development of a shore-to-ship delivery project.

Wilhelmsen is one of the four companies selected for the funding. The projects selected will receive S$1.5m ($1.1m) or up to 50% of the total project costs.

Wilhelmsen intends to enhance safety, productivity and efficiency through UAS delivery.
