Dubai-based port operator DP World has finished the ‘go-live’ of a cloud-based Terminal Operating System (TOS) at the Commercial Port of Luanda in Angola.
The platform, called CARGOES TOS+ (Zodiac) solution, offers real-time information on vessel, gate, and yard movements to the users.

The move comes four months after DP World signed a 20-year concession agreement with the Angolan Government to run the Multipurpose Terminal (MPT) at the Port of Luanda.
DP World was chosen by an evaluation committee set up by the Angolan Transport Ministry as the preferred bidder after an international tender process.
For improving its supply chain and logistics procedures, Luanda was searching for off-the-shelf digital solutions that could be deployed quickly.
The cloud-based solution was installed in two months.

By GlobalDataPresently, the port is equipped with new rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, which are said to be introduced in Angola for the first time.
DP World CEO Luanda Francisco Pinzon said: “In fewer than 8 weeks, from start to go-live, the Zodiac professional services team together with the DP World MEA portfolio team members on site have delivered a TOS that not only provides seamless optimisation functions, but also improves the myriad of processes that we must execute daily as efficiently as possible.”

The solution chosen by DP World Luanda has been installed at 87 locations internationally, including Cyprus’s DP World Limassol, where Zodiac Cloud-Based TOS manages general cargo.
