Wärtsilä has agreed to supply engines for an LNG-powered research vessel named Atair, which is being built at the Fassmer shipyard in Germany for Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH).

Two six-cylinder 20DF dual-fuel engines will be supplied by 2018 under the deal, while the vessel is scheduled to enter service in 2020.

The engines are to be double-elastically mounted to the vessel in order to minimise operational noise.

US-based SSA Marine has signed a 20-year agreement to operate Anaklia Development Consortium’s (ADC) planned container terminal on Georgia's Black Sea coast.

SSA Marine will also serve as an equity investor for ADC.

The port is expected to establish a new maritime corridor between China and Europe, and will be developed at an estimated cost of $3.7bn

BW LPG and Global United Shipping India have agreed to form a new joint venture (JV) to own and operate LPG gas carriers within Indian waters. Both two companies will each hold 50% stake in the new JV.

Two of BW LPG's vessels, BW Boss and BW Energy, are to be sold to the JV as part of the agreement.

BW LPG is based in Singapore, while Global United Shipping India is based in India.
