Goltens has received a contract from the maritime arm of British headquartered global oil company BP, BP Shipping, to retrofit ballast water treatment (BWT) systems on its gas carrier fleet.

Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The deal will see Goltens perform the engineering and retrofit installation of OceanSaver BWT systems on-board BP Shipping’s two 138,000m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, named British Innovator and British Merchant.

The company will begin the engineering and prefabrication work this year followed by the installation services, which are expected to be completed in 2018.

The company has been involved in more than 240 ballast water retrofit projects to date, including a wide range of vessel types and all of the major system manufacturers.
