UAE-based Abu Dhabi Ports has opened the new AED170m ($46.2m) Delma Port on the eastern side of Delma Island.
Covering a total area of 280,725m² and with 58,500m² of pavement for easy transportation, the new multi-purpose port has been designed to handle cargo, passenger ferries, and fishing vessels.

It features an accessible breakwater platform that will be used to facilitate critical infrastructure and coastal protection authority (CICPA) facility operations.
The port also has a 103m quay wall, with three fixed ramps that will serve as berthing areas for vessels.
A separate marina with 160 wet berths and 104 dry berths for fishing and recreational vessels has also been built to support the local boat population.
Abu Dhabi Ports' chief executive officer (CEO) Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: "The new Delma Port is one of the biggest in Al Dhafra Region and it has been designed to provide an effective sheltered harbour for the maritime community in Delma.

Delma Port's development has been completed by Abu Dhabi Ports in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT), CICPA, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and several other government entities.
