Turkey-based Karpowership is reportedly in negotiations with four European countries for the delivery of power ships.

To address the power shortage in winter, the European nations are in talks with the company to secure 2GW-capacity floating power plants, reported Daily Sabah.

Karpowership has eight energy ships, with a total capacity of 2GW. Its largest vessel comes with an installed capacity of 500MW.

The countries are in discussion with the company for the deployment of its floating power plants to help reduce the energy crisis.

Designed to produce electricity from liquefied natural gas (LNG) or liquid fuels, the floating power ships can be linked to the electricity grid of a country in approximately 30 days.

The Turkish company has 2GW of immediate generating capacity that can supply electricity to nearly five million households, in addition to supporting district heating systems in the four countries, reported Anadolu Agency.

Karpowership chief commercial officer Zeynep Harezi was quoted by the news agency as saying: “As winter approaches and Europe’s energy crisis shows little sign of abating, the region is taking steps towards power rationing.

“Karpowership has a solution that’s affordable, flexible, and can be deployed almost immediately to help ease pressure on tight supplies.”

Karpowership is a subsidiary of Karadeniz Holding and has energy ships with a total capacity of 6GW.

The company supplies electricity from floating power plants to multiple countries, with a focus on Africa. Its floating power plants are also used in countries such as Cuba and Brazil.
