Wärtsilä has received an order for the delivery of cargo handling and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel supply systems for two midsize gas carrier vessels in South Korea.
Both the LPG midsize gas carrier vessels are being built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for EXMAR LPG, a joint venture between EXMAR and Seapeak.

The contract also includes an option for the supply of equipment to two more ships.
The 46,000m³ vessels are claimed to be the largest of their kind across the globe.
Wärtsilä plans to conclude the delivery of equipment to the yard in the latter part of next year.
Recently, Wärtsilä delivered a similar type of equipment for a series of EXMAR vessels constructed at the Jiangnan shipyard in China.

In October, Wärtsilä joined forces with GoodFuels and Carnival’s Holland America Line to carry out ship trials utilising biofuel blends.
The trials were done using a 100% biofuel on a Wärtsilä ZA40 engine fitted on board Volendam, a Holland America Line vessel.
