Royal Caribbean will need to conduct a series of trial voyages with volunteer passengers onboard to meet the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for restarting cruises amid the pandemic.

All passengers volunteering for the trial voyages along with crew members will undergo rapid laboratory testing prior to departure and after arrival in order to meet the new testing requirements, the article noted that.

3. Royal Caribbean Blog’s tweet on Key West banning the docking of large cruises

Royal Caribbean Blog, a blog focused on the Royal Caribbean cruise line, shared an article on Key West in the US officially prohibiting large cruise ships from docking on the island city. The residents of the city voted to approve three proposals aimed at banning large cruise ships from docking in Key West.

One of the proposals includes banning of cruise ships with more than 1,300 passengers from docking in the city. A second proposal limits passengers disembarking from cruise ships to 1,500. The third proposal gives priority for docking to those cruise ships with excellent health and environmental records.

4. Cruise Industry News’s tweet on Princess Cruises cancelling cruise operations until 2021

Cruise Industry News, a website providing news related to the cruise industry, shared an article on Princess Cruises extending its ban on cruise operations until 31 March 2021. All cruises longer than more than one week in and out of the US also have been cancelled until 01 November 2021. 5. TravelPulse’s tweet on increase in confidence in cruising

TravelPulse, a website providing news and insights on the travel industry, shared an article on how a survey conducted by InsureMyTrip, a travel insurance company, revealed that majority of the residents in the US intend to go on cruises again, once the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak subsides.

InsureMyTrip conducted the survey among 3,602 US respondents who were asked whether they would choose to cruise currently if the CDC’s sailing guidelines were met for the restart of cruises.

Out of the 3,602 US respondents, nearly 53% of respondents said they would not board a cruise until it is safe, while 11% voted probably and 23% were willing to sail soon. Further, 13% of the respondents voted that they would not go on a cruise due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
