Norway-based offshore and maritime industry supplier Bergen Group has signed a deal with GMTH Holding to sell two of its firms, Bergen Group Kimek and Bergen Group Kimek Offshore, for approximately Nkr65m ($10.6m).
The sale of the two Kimek firms is part of the changes being implemented by the company, which includes adding more such coordinated offshore firms in the industrial area at Hanøytangen, Norway.
Under the plan, Bergen will bring all its offshore and services divisions under a common management team in January 2014, with headquarters in Hanøytangen, Norway.
Bergen Group CEO Asle Solheim said that the Kimek companies form a very exciting resource in connection with the increasing level of offshore activity expected by the market in Northern Norway.
“Still, from an overall assessment we have found it more appropriate to prioritise the focus and resources directed towards the extensive further development that we have started at Hanøytangen,” Solheim added.
GMTH Holding is an investment company that is locally owned in Kirkenes in Norway. Greger Mannsverk, who is the CEO of GMTH Holding, is also the managing director of Bergen Group Kimek and Bergen Group Kimek Offshore.

By GlobalDataSolheim said that even if Bergen Group now leaves its ownership of the Kimek companies, they are prepared to maintain and further develop the contact network they have developed in the region.
“The collaboration with the new owners of the Kimek companies will be important to us in the future,” Solheim added.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
