Shin Kurushima Dockyard has received an order from Japan’s Hachiuma Steamship to build a chip carrier.
The 35,000dwt vessel is scheduled to be delivered by October 2013.
Upon delivery the ship will be operated in chip transportation for the Japanese paper manufacturer.
The standard chip carrier is 50,000dwt panamax, while the recent demand from papermakers increased its size to 60,000dwt over-panamax, according to asiasis.com.
