Ports America has upgraded the terminal operation system (TOS) of its Napoleon Container Terminal in New Orleans, Louisiana, US, by implementing a Navis N4 system.
The new TOS will provide improved services to the terminal customers and keep pace with innovations in the field of terminal technology.
The upgrade will also allow Napoleon Container Terminal users to get access to Ports America TOS Web Portal, which interfaces with the Navis N4 system to provide real-time information on the customer’s cargo right from their arrival to departure.
Napoleon Container Terminal general manager Keith Palmisano said: “Having N4 in place helps ensure we can effectively manage larger container volumes and meet the evolving demands of our global customer base.
“The seamless implementation process would not have been possible without the collaboration between our operations and IT groups and Navis’ support team.
“Additionally, thorough simulation and live testing of gate, yard and vessel processes prior to our go-live, was essential for ensuring the TOS would perform as designed from day one.”
Napoleon Container Terminal currently handles 350,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of cargo annually.
The 47-acre terminal previously implemented several technological improvements, including an N4 and VoyagerTrack appointment system to better serve its customers, as well as truckers, carriers and shippers.
In July, Congo Terminal signed a licensing deal to implement Navis’ N4 TOS to address the need for increased operational support and meeting customer service demand.
