Wärtsilä Gas Solutions China sales manager Barry Yang said: “This contract once again emphasises our strength in this field, especially with Very Large Gas Carriers.

“Although this is Wärtsilä Gas Solutions’ first contract with Cosco for cargo handling and fuel supply systems, our two companies have had a long-term cooperation on numerous projects, and we are naturally delighted to be supporting them again on this project.”

The equipment from Wärtsilä Gas Solutions is scheduled for delivery to the shipyard starting in second half of 2025.

The four 88,000m3 VLGCs are slated to commence commercial operations from late 2026.

Earlier this month, Wärtsilä was contracted to supply a conversion package featuring its Fit4Power radical derating solution for containership ONE Maestro.

This solution is claimed to optimise engine’s power output, leading to an average fuel consumption reduction of approximately 13%.
