The Netherland-based Biglift Shipping has placed an order for a third Happy S-type vessel, which will be built by Ouhua Shipbuilding in Zhoushan, China.
Scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter of 2018, the new vessel will be similar to BigLift’s Happy Star heavy lift vessel, and will be named ‘Happy Sun’.

The new vessel will have two 900t Huisman Heavy Lift Mast Cranes, which will allow the ship to prepare for the handling of heavy cargoes all over the world.
The new build will be 156m long and will have a 29m deck with 18,374 deadweight tonnage (dwt).
The length and the forward position of the new vessel’s superstructure will provide a single, large cargo hold and a wide, open deck area.
Happy Sun will be fitted with pontoon type hatch covers and a large poop deck, which will make the vessel’s full deck area available for cargo stowage.

By GlobalDataTo be equipped with Finnish / Swedish 1A Ice Class notation, Happy Sun’s tween deck will be adjustable in height and will be allowed to sail with open weather deck hatches at a draught of up to 7.5m.
Once delivered, BigLift’s fleet will include 16 heavy lift vessels with lifting capacities of up to 1,800t.
Biglift Shipping noted that its heavy lift vessel Happy Star, which made its maiden journey in November 2014, has lifting curve ranges from 1,800t at 25m, 1,600t at 28m to 1,000t at 41m, with a lifting height of nearly 47m above the main deck.
