Hydroid, a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and manufacturer of marine robotic systems, has unveiled its new REMUS 100 AUV, an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) that seeks to increase customer’s autonomy during missions.
Claimed to include new advanced technology and capabilities, which are first of their kind, the new REMUS 100 AUV features advanced core electronics, a flexible navigation suite with an exclusive conformal Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), as well as an open architecture platform for providing advanced autonomy.

The advanced core electronics, included in the REMUS 100, replace the previous REMUS motherboard and the CPU stack, while, flexible navigation suite is designed to increase the bottom-tracking range of the vehicle to improve its overall navigation performance.
The vehicle also features a high-capacity battery pack and a modular elliptical nose, which helps reducing drag by 20%.
Built over two years, the vehicle is developed on the basis of the feedback received from the AUV user community across the globe.

Last October, the company has identified Japan-based SEA as an authorised service centre for the maintenance and repair of its REMUS 100 and REMUS 600 vehicles and support equipment.
The centre is expected to help the REMUS customers in Japan.
