China’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard has selected Rolls-Royce to supply a package of advanced ship equipment for a new Dive Support Vessel (DSV).
Under the terms of the agreement, Rolls-Royce will provide main propulsion, tunnel thrusters and remote controls to the new DSV designed by Skipsteknisk in Norway.

The 124m-long vessel is to be delivered to its Singapore-based owner, Jumeira Offshore, in 2017.
The new DSV will be equipped with four IMO Tier II and III compliant medium-speed Bergen B33:45 engines in addition to dynamic positioning (DP3) control systems that will use several data sources including satellite technology to control a vessel’s thrusters in the absence of anchoring.
The latest Bergen engine is expected to offer a 20% increase in power per cylinder, running 25,000 hours between major maintenance when operating at average loads.
The DP3 systems connected with other inboard control systems will enable for safe and efficient operations in conditions such as losing position that has the potential to result in fatal accidents, severe pollution or damage.
