General Dynamics Nassco has begun constructing the second of three product tankers for SEACOR’s subsidiary Sea-Vista Newbuild III.
The new 50,000dwt tanker with 330,000 barrel cargo capacity is being constructed at Nassco shipyard in San Diego under Jones Act requirements.

The vessel is based on the ECO MR Tanker design by DSEC, a subsidiary of South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
General Dynamics Nassco vice-president and general manager Kevin Graney said: "We are pleased to begin construction on the second state-of-the-art Jones Act-qualified tanker for our customer, SEA-Vista.
"Nassco remains committed to building the most economical and environmentally sound products for Jones Act owners and operators, and these tankers exemplify that commitment."
The product tankers will deliver enhanced fuel efficiency with the support of a G-series, MAN ME, slow-speed main engine and an optimised hull form.

By GlobalDataThese tanker will also be equipped with a ballast water treatment system, offering reduced emissions.
In addition, they will feature conversion-capable, dual-fuel-capable auxiliary engines, allowing them to accommodate the future installation of an LNG fuel-gas system and tanks.
In May, Nassco laid keel for the first Sea-Vista ECO tanker at its shipyard in San Diego, California.
Meanwhile, the company also started construction of the fourth tanker ship ordered by American Petroleum Tankers (APT) in May this year.
This new vessel is part of an order from APT for five 610ft-long and 50,000dwt product carriers.
