Valiant Lady is a cruise ship being built by Fincantieri Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa for Virgin Voyages. The cruise ship will signify the idea of women designing, leading and championing change in the maritime industry.

Valiant lady is a sister ship to Scarlet Lady. Construction began with the steel-cutting ceremony held in July 2018, while the keel-laying ceremony was held in February 2019.

Valiant Lady is scheduled for delivery in 2021. Virgin Voyages entered a partnership with Global Ports Holding, the world’s biggest cruise port operator, to support the operations of Valiant Lady.

Valiant Lady cruise ship design and features

The name ‘Valiant Lady’ has been inspired by a Latin word ‘valere’. The vessel incorporates a modern design and will also feature a distinctive cabin layout.

The cruise ship will measure 278m long and 38m wide and will have a gross registered tonnage of 110,000t. It can carry more than 2,700 passengers and 1,150 crew members.

Valiant Lady will feature 17 decks and will require total electricity of 4,800kW. The entire length of cables throughout the ship will be 3,500km.

Staterooms on board Valiant Lady

The cruise ship will have more than 1,400 cabins categorised into Inside, Window / Sea View and Sea Terrace staterooms, as well as Rockstar suits.

Rockstar suites of the ship will feature marble-clad bathrooms and spacious interiors designed by renowned designer, Tom Dixon. Each suite will offer a space ranging between 352ft2 and 2,147ft2 and can accommodate up to four people.

Sea Terrace cabins will offer a maximum area of 265ft2, furnished with a hand-woven terrace hammock. Sea View cabin will occupy an area ranging between 130ft2 and 190ft2, including spacious single beds and window seats, accommodating from one to three people.

Insider cabins on board the cruise ship will offer a space varying between 105ft2 and 177ft2. Each cabin can accommodate up to four people.

The cruise ship will feature a steak and seafood restaurant The Wake, an upscale Mexican restaurant Pink Agave, a vegetarian restaurant Razzle Dazzle and a cooking restaurant and lab called The Test Kitchen.

Valiant Lady will also include a floating market, The Galley, which will include packaged food from international vendors inspired by food-trucks. The cruise ship will also host events at night clubs such as The Manor and The Beach Club.

The cruise ship will also offer a live performance space at The Red Room and a private Karaoke at The Groupie. The cabins of the cruise ship will feature modern technology and unlimited Wi-Fi.

Valiant Lady propulsion

Valiant Lady will be equipped with two 8L46F and two 12V46F engines supplied by Wärtsilä, integrating ABB’s Azipod propulsion system, including two Azipod XO units with a total power output of 32MW.

Valiant Lady will be installed with six Climeon heat power modules to convert the carbon dioxide produced by the vessel into energy.

Virgin Voyages will also utilise Scanship microwave-assisted pyrolysis technology to convert organic waste on board the ship into clean energy.

Itineraries of Valiant Lady cruise ship

To be homeported in Barcelona, Valiant Lady will start its inaugural season in May 2021, with three seven-night itineraries covering destinations throughout the Mediterranean.

The first voyage will cover Marseille in France, Monte Carlo in Monaco, Olbia and Ibiza Island in Spain.

The second itinerary will include popular destinations such as Toulon, Marina di Carrara, Ajaccio, Cagliari and Ibiza, while the third voyage will cover Palma de Mallorca, Málaga, Gibraltar and Ibiza.
