UK-based Stolt Tankers, a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen, has announced a partnership with Wuhu Shipyard for the construction of six stainless steel parcel tankers.
Featuring a 38,000-deadweight tonnage, the vessels will be set for delivery between 2026 and 2028, with options for an additional six tankers.

This agreement aligns closely with Stolt Tanker’s maintenance strategy as the company aims to retire older ships from its network between 2026 and 2030.
The new ships will provide cargo flexibility, offering 30 stainless steel cargo tank segregations, which Stolt believes will reflect the changing demands of its clients.
Stolt-Nielsen Limited chief executive officer Udo Lange emphasised how this will align with the company’s sustainability goals.
Lange said: “[This deal] reflects our strategy to add modern, fuel-efficient ships to our fleet to support our customers by improving our service offering and making their supply chains simpler and more sustainable.

By GlobalData“Not only will these new ships help Stolt Tankers in its ambition to reduce its carbon intensity by 50% (relative to the 2008 baseline) by 2030, but they will also help reduce customers’ Scope 3 emissions.”
This agreement will build on previous ventures by Stolt Tankers which includes the acquisition of ten second-hand vessels since 2021.
According to Stolt, the newbuild vessels will put its “strong balance sheet and cash flow generation to work”.
