Singapore – VingCard, a leading hospitality security
provider and part of the ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Group, completed the
installation of its Signature RFID contactless electronic door locks with
NFC cell phone compatibility at the Sea Pearl Villas Resort, Phuket,

The largest island in the country, Phuket is a fast-growing
tourist destination, allowing the Sea Pearl Villas Resort to make
an immediate impact as it accommodates the island’s diverse,
international visitors. Signature RFID by VingCard accommodates staff
as they serve guests throughout the almost 16-acre property, offering
productivity and efficiency in the management of guest
requests. The resort in its entirety is set to open during the
third quarter of 2010.

“With such an extensive array of services available to our
guests, we needed a highly reliable, adaptable security
system,” said Khun Sumit Soontornnont of the Sea Pearl Business
company. “The RFID electronic locks no longer require the insertion of key cards, instead utilizing a sealed exterior. This helps protect against the environment while maintaining the high level of security VingCard is known for throughout the industry.”

Signature RFID contactless electronic door locks offer highly reliable security features and provide unprecedented convenience and ease-of-operation for hoteliers and hotel guests alike. The radio frequency identification (RFID) locks allow for contactless guest room entry and are compatible with NFC cell phones. The Sea Pearl Villas
Resort, Phuket, will be fully equipped to provide user-friendly and intuitive guest interaction, including NFC cell phone compatibility, while decreasing the overall workload of the resort’s management and staff.

“With Signature RFID, we also have the ability to integrate key cards
into other facets of the property in the future, such as loyalty rewards
programs or vendor payment,” said Khun Sumit. “These options make
it easier than ever for us to provide the best overall experience to our

Signature RFID also provides unmatched control and security – with a 600-event audit trail and innovative anti-cloning software – that, according to Vegard Prytz, vice president of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Asia-Pacific, creates a sense of ease for hoteliers.

“By installing Signature RFID by VingCard, hoteliers can stay updated on events throughout the hotel,” said Prytz. “Each lock writes back information to staff RFID cards, including audit trails, battery status and tamper alarms, providing more control to hoteliers with less guesswork.”

Additionally, Signature RFID locks offer Sea Pearl Villas Resort, Phuket the opportunity to go ‘green’. The energy-efficient locks require fewer battery changes than traditional electronic locks, meaning less waste (not to mention lower battery costs) for the hotelier. Signature RFID’s sealed hardware design also means less maintenance because the mechanism does not require cleaning.

“Our contactless electronic locks are constantly evolving to keep up with the ever-changing demands of hotel properties worldwide,” said Prytz. “The Sea Pearl Villas Resort, Phuket can rest assured that their locks can keep up with the evolving security standards of the hospitality industry.”

Signature RFID is a secure open-platform system compatible with the three leading RFID ISO standards (ISO 14443A/MiFare, ISO 14443B, ISO 15693) and the new NFC transaction platform for cell phones. By installing Signature RFID locks, a property will be ready to offer remote check-in to guests with NFC-compatible cell phones. After making a reservation but prior to arrival at the hotel, guests will receive
a booking confirmation number, room number and encrypted room key access code through an encrypted short message system (SMS) to their NFC-enabled cell phone, allowing them to bypass the check-in line upon arrival and go straight to the room, where their NFC-enabled cell phones will unlock the guestroom door.
