The GES 21 is a brand new lifeboat from Norsafe especially designed for ships. It has a similar design to Norsafe’s larger state-of-the-art free-fall lifeboats (GES 45 and GES 52), and has its cockpit located in the centre of the boat.
The davit of the 21ft free-fall lifeboat takes up less deck space than other lifeboat davits, and the maximum drop height of the boat will be around 20m. It has a capacity of 26 persons, including the pilots, and GES 21 will be an affordable alternative to other free-fall lifeboats in the same class.
GES 21 will meet the general SOLAS requirements, and it is expected that the lifeboat will be available from September 2015.
