Promat’s Marine range includes Promat PROMARINE®-640 and Promat PROMARINE®-450 fire protection panels. These lightweight panels are installed where weight of product is critical and have been successfully tested to IMO Res. A799 (19) and A754 (18).
Both Promat PROMARINE®-640 and Promat PROMARINE®-450 panels comply fully with the requirements of the Marine Equipment Directive 96/98/EC (amended by Directive 98/95 and Directive 2001/53). Modules B & D and Type Approval Certificates are available upon request.
Promat PROMARINE®-640 and Promat PROMARINE®-450 are manufactured in Europe. The manufacturing process uses autoclaved calcium silicate, reinforced with selected minerals and fibres. The panels contain no asbestos or other mineral fibres.
Promat PROMARINE®-640 and Promat PROMARINE®-450 are used to provide decorative fire resistant bulkheads, deckheads and floors in accommodation areas on all types of sea-going vessels and offshore platforms. Both Promat PROMARINE®-640 and Promat PROMARINE®-450 can also be used as the core panels in flat-pack, non-combustible ships’ furniture.
Promat has recently launched Promat PROMAGUARD® and Promat PROMASOUND® TL, an innovative new range of fire protection and acoustic materials for Marine applications. The importance of fire protection in marine vessels has been highlighted by two recent fires during June 2010 which resulted in the destruction of the 46.7m Madiblue D and the 31.8m La Diva Superyachts. Thankfully no one was injured in either fire.
Promat PROMAGUARD® is a microporous thermal insulation board, formed as a slab in a skin of glass cloth which provides thermal and mechanical properties. Designed to meet SOLAS, IMO and MCA standards for passive fire protection, Promat PROMAGUARD® provides an excellent solution for insulation and fire protection systems in bulkheads and deckheads which require extreme light weight and thin insulation.
Promat PROMASOUND® TL is the latest generation of innovative visco-elastic products and provides high levels on acoustic performance with low spread of flame performance. Acoustically, Promat PROMASOUND® TL represents the first valuable insulating barrier able to replace lead foils and PVC. It is a safe, harmless material and is easy to install.
The Royal Research Ship (RRS) Sir David Attenborough is a polar research vessel to be constructed by Cammell Laird at its Birkenhead shipyard in Merseyside, UK, for Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). NERC’s British Antarctic Survey (BAS) will operate the vessel.
