Hyde Marine announces the launch of its new website, which is designed to better educate the marine industry about the company’s pioneering Hyde GUARDIAN® Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS). HydeMarine.com allows users to easily navigate the Hyde Marine Academy section, which serves as an educational clearinghouse for technological updates and maritime news.

Visitors can also search for Hyde GUARDIAN® ballast water treatment solutions by vessel application or by ballast water flow rates. With the launch of the new website, Hyde Marine also created pages on LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube to share relevant industry updates, technological information, and product updates immediately with followers.

Today, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Calgon Carbon Corporation, Hyde Marine continues to set the pace for deploying technological leadership, innovative maritime solutions, and industry-leading service to help shipbuilders and owners comply with United States Coast Guard ballast water treatment regulations which have been in effect since June 2013 and will be enforced on January 1, 2014.

The system’s chemical-free design includes an efficient, auto-backflushing filter, which removes sediment and larger plankton, as well as a powerful medium-pressure UV disinfection system from Calgon Carbon Corporation that destroys or inactivates smaller organisms and bacteria. It offers a compact, modular design with low power consumption, low-pressure drop, and simple, fully automatic operation, making it a technically attractive solution for any type of vessel.

The Hyde GUARDIAN BWTS was one of the first to receive IMO Type Approval in April 2009. It was also the first BWTS accepted into the U.S. Coast Guard’s Shipboard Technology Evaluation Program (STEP), which facilitates the development of effective BWTS technologies for vessel owners seeking alternatives to ballast water exchange. STEP participation is available to all foreign and domestic vessels subject to the Coast Guard’s Ballast Water Management (BWM) regulations.
