DNV GL’s Class A certification verifies a solution’s full mission capability, while Class B and C refer to multi-task and limited task capabilities, respectively.

The classification further verifies BMT as a manufacturer of a simulator system that abides by the International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 78 (STCW 78) and the DNVGL-ST-0033 Maritime Simulator Systems standards.

The certification has also extended the use of BMT’s tug simulator for inland waterways navigation.

Five years back, the Rembrandt simulator received DNV GL’s Class S accreditation, verifying its capability to conduct specialist project-based simulation.

“Our new generation of fully certified simulation technology is more versatile, hydrodynamically accurate, visually superior and all at a significantly lower cost, thus widening the support and benefit that we already provide to our existing customer base.”

BMT Rembrandt is currently in use by several maritime companies and organisations for multiple applications, including training of deck officers, port navigational risk assessments, mooring and understanding complex manoeuvres.

UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) and other statutory marine accident investigation agencies are also using the solution.
