Capital Ship Management Corp (Capital) has taken delivery of its sixth LNG-ready and “future-proof” tanker, the Akrisios, at its headquarters in Piraeus, Greece.

The new build ship was constructed by Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard Co at its base near Nha Trang, southern Vietnam.

The ship has been designated HVSC-ready and Wind-Assist-ready by the American Bureau of Shipping and is fitted with LNG-ready engines.

The designations mean the ship has been made ready for High Voltage Shore Connection systems to be installed in the future and for sails to be attached, allowing electrical engines and wind power to sail the tanker.

These attributes led Capital to claim the new ship will be one of the greenest on the seas.

Akrisios becomes one of the most environmentally friendly, technologically advanced and efficient vessels in the global… fleet,” the shipping company said.

The Akrisios joins its sister vessels in Capital’s fleet. The other ships were all delivered from Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard in 2023, the first arriving on 27 January.
