US-based marine solutions provider Crowley Maritime’s Jacksonville-based terminal in Florida has gone live with Tideworks Technology’s CitadelMC SaaS terminal operating system (TOS).

CitadelMC is a cloud-based solution that functions as a software as a service (SaaS) system.

Prior to the implementation of CitadelMC at the Jacksonville terminal, Tideworks deployed its Mainsail Vanguard core TOS, Spinnaker Planning Management System, Traffic Control, and GateVision gate operating system, as well as its managed EDI service, EDI Porter at the terminal.

All the solutions are hosted at Tideworks’ hardened data centre.

“Our relationship with Tideworks allows us to be strategic with our approach to these modernisation efforts.”

Crowley Maritime terminal systems director Mike Porkert said: “Leveraging best-in-class software and SaaS services from Tideworks has been crucial as we continue to modernise technology and operations throughout our network of terminals.

“Our relationship with Tideworks allows us to be strategic with our approach to these modernisation efforts.

“In particular, Tideworks’ TOS was instrumental in allowing us to launch our new container/Roll on-Roll off (ConRo) vessels that provide service between Jacksonville and San Juan, Puerto Rico.”

The latest development has made Jacksonville to be the third Crowley terminal with Tideworks’ TOS, following the installations at Crowley’s San Juan terminal in April this year and at the Port Everglades terminal in September last year.

With the new TOS, Crowley has been able to improve its operational efficiencies at the terminal gates and other points. The average trucker turn time has also been improved by nearly 14 minutes, representing a 37% reduction than the previous level.
