Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract to construct the first cruise ship for Norway-based SeaDream Yacht Club.
The purpose-built 155m mega yacht will be operated by SeaDream on luxury voyages across the world.

The ship will be built with ice-class Polar Code 6 to operate in polar and tropical regions.
Damen Cruise Sales and Marketing senior vice-president Andrea Trevisan said: “We feel very honoured that SeaDream has chosen Damen to deliver this special project and are looking forward to a long-term cooperation with this unique ultra-luxury brand.”
The latest contract marks the official entry of Damen into the cruise market after the group launched its new venture, Damen Cruise, last year.

Damen will completely construct and outfit the mega yacht, including its interior, at the Mangalia yard. Construction is expected to start in October, with plans to deliver it in September 2021.
Last year, Damen began operational control of the shipyard, which is now known as Damen Shipyards Mangalia, in Romania. The yard is a joint venture with the Romanian Government and is located on the Black Sea.
Damen secured a contract last month to supply two of its FCS 2710 fast crew supply vessels to Taiwan’s dredging company, Hung Hua Construction.
