DP World received six forklift trucks from Konecranes at its terminal at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The delivery of the Konecranes SMV16-1200C trucks was made to the DP World Jebel Ali Terminal 1 and follows an order placed by DP World in November.
The trucks are designed to have a lifting capacity of 16t at 1,200mm.
With a wheelbase of 3,750mm, the trucks are equipped with overload protection system and Groeneveld Greensight reverse system to meet with DP World’s safety requirements.
Greensight reverse system is an obstacle detection system that combines a reverse camera with ultrasound sensors.
The forklift trucks can also perform disabled forklift operation when the seatbelt is disengaged.
DP World UAE Region Plant Workshop T1 manager Yahya Al Suwaidi said: “Since we have very demanding operations, we need machines with high productivity and minimum downtime.
“Due to the quality and reliability of the machines together with excellent aftersales support, we choose Konecranes.”
DP World currently operates a fleet of Konecranes forklift trucks, empty container handlers, reach stackers and rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs), among others.
The company operates 65 marine terminals across six continents.
Konecranes Lift Trucks regional sales manager Manos Athanasakis said: “DP World is a valued customer with high demands regarding performance and safety.
“We always do our best to make sure they have the right machines fit for their specific needs.”
In June, Konecranes delivered a mobile harbour crane with a new drive concept to Weserport in Bremen, Germany.
The crane was installed at Terminal 1 of Weserport’s Industriehafen facility for loading and unloading general cargo and handling project loads.
