Dutch maritime service company EMAR Offshore Services has received the Damen ASD Tug 2811 vessel, which is a new addition to its existing fleet.

Named E-TWO, the vessel was ordered by EMAR in November with a request for the installation of an additional FiFi1 system, aft winch, and hydraulic crane.

E-TWO is the fifth vessel supplied by Damen to EMAR. The fourth tug was ordered directly by EMAR.

The ASD Tug 2811 is an improved version of the ASD Tug 2810 and is Damen Shipyards Group’s ‘next-generation’ harbour tug. It will assist in the berthing and unberthing of industrial vessels in major ports.

EMAR Offshore Services managing director Johan van Beek said: “This expansion of the fleet enables us to ramp up operations in Africa and fully establish ourselves as a leading marine services operator in the region.”

With improved power and manoeuvrability, the vessel will be able to perform even in restricted waterways.

E-TWO is underway to China to collect its first tow, a new 75x25m flattop barge for EMAR named E-Barge 1MW, which was purchased from Damen Concordia Shipbuilding.

Damen sales manager Vincent de Maat said: “Working with EMAR is a pleasure, as they’re clear about what they require and provide exactly the right amount of input we need to deliver an exact match to their requirements.”
