Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has finalised an order with MSC Cruises for the construction of two Seaside EVO-class vessels for a sum of roughly €1.8bn.
The deal has replaced the initial slot reservation agreement to build a third Seaside Class ship, which is expected to be delivered by 2021.

Delivery of the two new Seaside EVO vessels is scheduled to be carried out by 2021 and 2023 respectively.
Each of the ships will be 339m-long and 41m-wide, and will feature a capacity of 169,380t.
The new Seaside EVO ships will be able to accommodate up to 5,646 passengers each and will comprise additional cabins and a larger Yacht Club, among other improvements.
In addition, the vessels will benefit from improved environmental technologies such as a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, an advanced active emissions control solution and exhaust gas cleaning (EGC) technology, which will help them to meet the strictest exhaust regulations in port and in operating areas.

By GlobalDataThey will also be equipped with better waste management and recycling solutions, as well as advanced water treatment, energy and heat recovery systems.
Next-generation energy-saving devices are also expected to be installed on-board both ships.
The vessels’ development is expected to increase the number of ships currently slated for construction by 2026 for MSC Cruises’ fleet to a total of 12, with an overall investment of €10.5bn.
Furthermore, MSC Cruises has recently taken delivery of a new 153,516t ship known as MSC Seaside from the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
MSC Seaside represents the first ship in the Seaside Class and is capable of carrying 5,119 passengers.
