German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd and Intelligent Cargo Systems have announced the establishment of a technology partnership.

Intelligent Cargo Systems fleet performance platform CargoMate offers real-time visibility of port calls and automatic notification of important port events, including estimated completion times, enabling fleet managers to control coastal schedules.

Intelligent Cargo Systems CEO Chris Jones said: “It is a great milestone for us to announce our partnership with Hapag-Lloyd.

“We have worked closely with them in recent years and we are excited to continue developing new opportunities to improve their services.”

Hapag-Lloyd will use CargoMate software to enable crews to oversee operations more safely as it captures new data to enhance ship routes and performance.

Hapag-Lloyd Network Operations senior director Jörn Springer said: “By having a real-time view of every port call on the CargoMate platform, we are able to observe port calls in greater detail without requesting progress updates from the terminal or local agent.

“It has uncovered new cost-savings and will continue our drive to improve performance and visibility for our customers.”

The CargoMate platform enables ship operators to monitor ship cargo operations in real time at any port in the world.

The collected data can open up new insights into route optimisation to help shipping companies reduce fuel costs and improve environmental impact.
