Kongsberg Digital has secured a contract to supply its Vessel Insight infrastructure solution for the entire Island Offshore fleet of 26 offshore ships.

According to the company, this is one of the biggest contracts for Vessel Insight since its introduction in 2019.

The solution will allow Island Offshore to gather all data from its fleet on one common platform.

With the help of the collected data, Island Offshore will be able to utilise decision support tools and benchmark its ships by comparing operational data from all vessels.

The aim is to cut down fuel consumption and emissions as well as automate reporting procedures.

Currently, Island Offshore has four vessels connected to the Vessel Insight platform. Kongsberg Digital is working to deploy the solution on the remaining ships.

Island Offshore has already deployed the Vessel Performance application from Kongsberg Maritime and partner application Yxney Maritimes MARESS, which is available in Vessel Insight’s Maritime Ecosystem, for these initial ships.

The four vessels have now switched from manual to automated reporting.

Island Offshore technical manager Trond Hauge said: “By collecting all data on one common platform, we get a correct and efficient starting point to analyse our operations and compare all our vessels in the fleet. In this way, we can share experiences between the vessels and ensure that we operate as efficiently and safely as possible.

“Our fleet will be even more sustainable by reducing fuel consumption and thus the attractiveness in the market will increase. With increasing demands for reporting, going from a manual to an automated reporting process will save us a lot of work.”

In July, Kongsberg Digital secured a contract from Güngen Denizcilik ve Ticaret, a Turkish-owned and registered shipping firm, to supply its Vessel Insight infrastructure.
