To be jointly owned by MOL and Itochu, the vessel was delivered by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) to MOL at the Okpo shipyard.

LNG Schneeweisschen has a cargo tank capacity of 180,000m³. It is powered by a slow-speed two-stroke engine (X-DF) built by Winterthur Gas & Diesel that can run on natural gas, marine gas oil (MGO) and heavy fuel oil.

The 297.9m-long and 47.90m-wide vessel also features the methane refrigeration system-full re-liquefaction (MRS-F) solution developed by DSME.

MRS-F is designed to work with the high-efficiency X-DF engine to re-liquefy extra boil-off gas and returning it as LNG to the cargo tank.
