Cargotec division Navis has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of New Zealand-based Jade Logistics.

Jade Logistics provides Master terminal operating systems (TOS) for mixed cargo terminals.

With N4, Octopi and Jade Master Terminal systems, Navis will be able to offer the flexibility of the most suitable TOS for the cargo requirements of any prospective customer.

To meet the growing global demand for mixed cargo solutions, the company will set up a General Cargo Center of Excellence in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Navis president Benoit de la Tour said: “We are experiencing growing customer demand for general cargo services and we feel Jade Logistics is ideally suited to enhance our product portfolio and our reach within this category.

“By joining forces with Jade Logistics, Navis is addressing a key complementary market and growth opportunity for the company and offering the industry the best of breed solution for general cargo.”

The acquisition will add Jade Logistics Master Terminal to the company’s software portfolio, enabling the company to support a number of international terminals.

Jade Logistics customers will benefit from Navis’ industry expertise, global reach, support and service organisation resources.

Master Terminal can handle all cargo types and offers a single, real-time view of operations to enable fast decision-making.

The terminal facilitates the sharing of cargo information beyond the port and across the supply chain, helping ports to grow their business through increased visibility.

Jade Logistics CEO David Lindsay said: “Navis will bring additional capabilities and resources to help further optimise and maximise general cargo terminal performance.”

The acquisition is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Jade Logistics team will continue to operate out of its Christchurch headquarters under the direction of Lindsay.

Lindsay will remain on board and help to manage the General Cargo Center of Excellence to improve general cargo terminal operations software and services for the global customer base of Navis.
