Navis and Loginno partner to improve container movement visibility

Shipping supply chain operational technology and service provider Navis and logistics IoT firm Loginno have formed a strategic partnership to offer its customers improved container visibility.

Shipping supply chain operational technology and service provider Navis and logistics IoT firm Loginno have formed a strategic partnership to offer its customers improved container visibility.

The partners intend to offer shippers greater visibility throughout the shipping supply chain by applying smart container technology at the terminal and during a vessel’s journey.

Smart container technology will give those using shipping containers clearer information on the location and condition of their cargo.

Loginno founder Shachar Tal said: “We see tremendous value in creating a major Contopia use case with Navis and the world’s first digital shipping company, leveraging Navis’ deep knowledge of TOS, stowage planning systems and operational processes for carriers and terminals and our cutting-edge smart container technology.

“Through the added context from Navis to the Contopia scenario, terminals, carriers and shippers will have more accurate data to make operational decisions about the movement of the cargo, thereby saving costs and improving each constituent’s operations.”

According to a report, only around 5% of containers have tracking sensors on them, which makes it difficult to achieve complete transparency across the shipping lifecycle.

Navis is using its advanced shipping container ‘brain’ sensors to deliver more insights for ocean carriers, terminal operators and their logistic partners and customers.

Upon pooling data from these sensors with Navis’ data, all involved parties can obtain deeper insight into the condition and movement of the freight, its actual versus planned arrival.

They can also gain critical information, including the damaging time of a container, it actually availability for pick-up and its customs hold.

Navis chief strategy officer Andy Barrons said: “Through our Navis SMART initiative and this new cooperation with Loginno, we hope to open a new door to more real-time data analytics in ocean shipping and explore more use cases for applying intelligence to the container, and unlock Contopia.”
