Royal Caribbean International has commenced the construction of its new Quantum Ultra-class ship at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
A steel cutting ceremony was also organised at the shipyard to mark the occasion.

The ship will be named Spectrum of the Seas and is scheduled to be launched by 2019.
It will be specifically designed for guests in China and the Asia-Pacific region and is expected to feature a variety of experiences and amenities.
Royal Caribbean International president and CEO Michael Bayley said: “We are now one step closer to delighting our guests in Asia Pacific with this remarkable ship.
“Spectrum will be another giant leap forward in vessel design and guest experiences that will provide travellers with ample opportunities to create unforgettable memories.”

By GlobalDataSpectrum will join its sister ships Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas once completed.
Royal Caribbean previously announced that construction had been completed on the exteriors of its new Oasis-class ship Symphony of the Seas in June.
The vessel was floated out of its dry dock to begin the next phase of interior construction following the completion.
The 230,000t Symphony of the Seas is scheduled to be launched by April and will feature 28 more staterooms than its sister ship Harmony of the Seas.
