Norway-based Ecoxy has verified Kongsberg Maritime's K-Fleet Voyage solution for use under the EU Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) and the new EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (EU-MRV) regulation.

The EU-MRV regulation is set to be fully operational from 1 January and will apply to ships exceeding 5,000t capacity calling at any European Union (EU) port, irrespective of flag or country of ownership.

The regulation seeks to quantify and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the shipping industry.

K-Fleet Voyage forms part of Kongsberg’s K-Fleet suite of applications, and is capable of simplifying the reporting process required under EU-MRV by transferring data from the ship-based application to the shore-office version on a daily basis.

It also ensures the reliable collection of information necessary to create the annual MRV report, which includes voyage registration, port registration with port name and berth, condition and cargo quantity, as well as daily registration of position, among others.

Kongsberg Maritime Vessel and Fleet Performance product manager Rune Stålstrøm said: “With the first deadline under EU-MRV fast approaching we are committed to being at the forefront with a flexible, cost-effective solution for shipowners to meet these important new requirements.
