Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri has started construction of the third Vista class cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line, a brand under US-based cruise operator Carnival.
The new ship is scheduled to be delivered in Q3, 2019. Sister ships Carnival Vista was delivered in Monfalcone in April last year, while Carnival Horizon is currently being built at the Marghera shipyard and is scheduled to be delivered at the beginning of next year.
The 133,500gt new build will be capable of accommodating more than 6,500 people including passengers in 1,987 staterooms and suites, as well as 761 crew members.
The company has claimed that the Vista class are the largest ships that it has ever built for Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet.
In addition to providing a wide range of on-board entertainment, restaurants, theatres, shops, and wellness centres, the Vista class vessels are claimed to feature high-performance and high-quality technical solutions.
The new vessel also has a limited-access Havana Area, a themed private area, with cabins, open bars, and a pool.
Since 1990, Fincantieri has built 78 cruise ships, while 31 are currently being designed or built in the group's yards.
