Kongsberg Maritime

Kongsberg Maritime has been selected by a group of shipbuilders from China and Korea to provide automation systems for 13 new-build advanced offshore vessels at a cost of Nkr330m ($53m).

Involved in the deal are Chinese shipbuilders Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore (DSIC), CIMC Raffles, Cosco Shipyard and Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, as well as Korean shipbuilders Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Under the contract, Kongsberg will supply its Full Picture technology featuring integrated dynamic positioning, automation, navigation and hydroacoustic positioning for the vessels.

The 13 offshore vessels comprise six LNG carriers, four advanced offshore drilling units, two advanced accommodation units and one LNG floating storage and regasification unit.

The company’s sister unit Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies will provide riser management solutions for the vessels.

Kongsberg has also received another contract from DSIC to build an advanced semi-submersible drilling rig of Agility Group A5000 design for its Chinese drilling contractor, China Oilfield Services.
