MacGregor has entered a five-year frame agreement with Teekay Shipping to provide spare parts, maintenance, training and project support for equipment installed on-board 115 vessels.

The deal includes a range of cargo handling and mooring equipment such as hatch covers, hose-handling cranes, general-purpose cranes and offshore mooring / loading systems.

It also covers various deck machinery winches, steering gear and compressors installed on the Teekay vessels.

MacGregor UK branch manager Steve Goodchild said: “The business relationship with Teekay goes back to Pusnes and Hatlapa brands with separate types of agreements.

“When discussions first took place it was clear there was a tremendous spread of installed base.

"The timing was right to present a global MacGregor portfolio approach to fit with the Teekay way of working with its prime contractors."

Teekay was originally formed in 1973 and specialises in the provision of marine energy transportation, storage and production services.

MacGregor offers various solutions and services for handling marine cargoes, vessel operations, offshore loads, crude / liquefied natural gas (LNG) transfer and offshore mooring.

The company previously secured a deal in July to provide oceanographic winches and Triplex deck handling systems to a new research vessel being built by Fassmer shipyard in Berne, Germany.

Delivery of the new equipment is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2019.
